Mattapoisett Congregational Church447 viewsMattapoisett Congregational Church held outdoor service on Sunday featuring “Bring your own lawn chair,” as some folks sat in cars at curbside. No hymns were sung by members; the socially distant, mask-clad crowd enjoyed musical tunes by Jake Huntsinger, and Pastor Amy Lignitz-Harken gave the sermon. Melody Pacheco447 viewsOn March 17 family, friends, and co-workers came out in force to beep and wave at retiring Mattapoisett Town Hall employee Melody Pacheco, who ended her 35-year career after serving in a variety of capacities, including assistant to the town administrator, for over a decade. Charles Stockbridge447 viewsOn March 27, local artist Charles Stockbridge gave a painting demonstration in the style of impressionist works at the Mattapoisett Public Library. Stockbridge is a classically-trained historian and painter whose works have hung in galleries and homes both near and far. While he is best known for landscapes and marine themes, Stockbridge has recently been exploring paintings that are more in the genre of a Claude Monet.

Delighting the children were two Nigerian goats owned by Emerald Heirloom Farm, Mattapoisett. The goats are part of a planned experiment by farmers Ruby Pasquill and Jonathan MacDugall, who are using sustainable farming practices. Mattapoisett Bike Path447 viewsPlanking for the bike path is under test review, and the installation of railings along the elevated sections of railings can be seen from the Reservation Road portion of Phase 1b of the Mattapoisett Bike Path. Town Administrator Mike Lorenco said that although a different type of planking material is being tested, the town will not accept the project for ownership until MassDOT enters into a joint-ownership agreement and/or provides bonding assurances in the event of material failure as previous experience
