Taste of the Town379 viewsPeople with a taste for fine food flocked to Shipyard Park in Mattapoisett on the evening of Tuesday, July 12 for the annual Taste of the Town. Local restaurants and cafés dole out servings of their specialty foods for ticket holders to the event hosted by the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club. Harbor Days 379 viewsHarbor Days came to Mattapoisett this past weekend, and many visitors were gracious enough to spin The Wanderer Wheel for a $1 donation to the Lions Club. Those who played helped raise an extra $523 the Lions Club will use to benefit the community. Following events are Wednesday with Concert in the Park and strawberry shortcake, Thursday is Paint Night at Shipyard Park, Friday is the fish fry, Saturday is craft fair/vendors, entertainment, U-Pick ‘Em Auction, and lobster dinner, and Sunday is the pancake breakfast. Brad Hathaway379 viewsIt took 32 years, but on October 3 Mattapoisett resident Brad Hathaway completed his “Walk around the World” along Aucoot Road, accompanied by well over 100 friends and supporters of his mission refocused some years ago from what had begun as a fitness prescription to a fundraising effort for the Mattapoisett Land Trust. Hathaway, 88, is a co-founder of the MLT and has dedicated his life toward preserving and protecting lands that his ancestors first came upon hundreds of years ago.

The check was presented to Town Administrator Mike Lorenco and Town Accountant Heidi Chuckran by Plymouth County Treasurer Tom O'Brien and County Commissioner Jared Valanzola.
