The Lions were collecting non-perishable food and unwrapped new toys to distribute to those in need during the holiday. Mattapoisett Free Library Birthday351 views“Say Triskaidekaphobia!” the Cat in the Hat told the children, posing for a photo at the Mattapoisett Free Library on Saturday, March 22. What the heck is that, the children asked the Cat in the Hat. “Google it!” he told the children laughing at his silliness. The library knows how to throw a party, celebrating five years since the Friends of the Mattapoisett Library funded the expansion of the library. “They even bought a cake,” said Children’s Services Librarian Sandra Burke. Harbor Days 351 viewsHarbor Days came to Mattapoisett this past weekend, and many visitors were gracious enough to spin The Wanderer Wheel for a $1 donation to the Lions Club. Those who played helped raise an extra $523 the Lions Club will use to benefit the community. Mattapoisett Woman’s Club Garden Group351 viewsRed, white, and blue was Sharon Doyon’s vision of the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club Garden Group as 18 members gathered at the library to plant on May 26 in areas including the pots at the Mattapoisett Historical Society and Town Hall, window boxes at the post office and Town Beach house, the lighthouse garden at the harbor, plus the gardens and planters at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library.

Salty Soirée351 viewsSince 2007, the Mattapoisett Land Trust has invited the community to a soirée at the site of Salty the Seahorse. The Halloween themed party on October 19 featured musical performances by Jeff and Lisa Dunn, storytelling by the campfire with Karen Chace, and make-your-own s’mores.
