Mattapoisett Harbormaster359 viewsMattapoisett Harbormaster Jill Simmons has become a de facto art museum curator since the town acquired prints and photographs that now grace the walls of the tiny harbormaster’s office at Shipyard Park. Local photographer Misty King has several of her pieces on display, along with two pieces by USCG’s artist Michael Mazur. Local restaurants and cafés dole out servings of their specialty foods for ticket holders to the event hosted by the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club. Those who played helped raise an extra $523 the Lions Club will use to benefit the community. Lieutenant Justin Dubois and firefighters Justin Blue, Silas Costa, and Bill Oliver climbed 2,880steps in one hour in full firefighter gear (up to 100 lbs) to raise money for Homes For Our Troops, a nonprofit that builds adaptive homes for injured veterans.
