Harbor Days 360 viewsHarbor Days came to Mattapoisett this past weekend, and many visitors were gracious enough to spin The Wanderer Wheel for a $1 donation to the Lions Club. Those who played helped raise an extra $523 the Lions Club will use to benefit the community. During open house, families can tour the station, enjoy refreshments, make crafts, try out the fire hose, and watch demonstrations such as the Jaws of Life extraction and the much-anticipated fire extinguishing event. The Bogs at Sunset359 viewsThere is an otherworldly appearance to the Bogs during the long-shadowed evening hours of late spring. The landscape is bathed in golden sunlight that makes the bogs appear to glow from the inside out. The Buzzards Bay Coalition oversees the 50 acres of retired cranberry bogs that abounds with wildlife of the amphibious kind. Shaw Farm Trail359 viewsJuly 31 was a big day for the Buzzards Bay Coalition, the Towns of Fairhaven and Mattapoisett, and the entire South Coast when 416 acres of farmland and conservation land were added to the Nasketucket Bay Conservation Project, which was formally completed with the addition of the Shaw Farm Trail that now links the bike path with the Nasketucket Bay State Reservation.
