Tour de Crème390 viewsThe Mattapoisett Land Trust in tandem with the Mattapoisett Bike Path Committee held its first Tour de Crème on Sunday, May 22. The fundraiser brought groups on three different courses – 13-, 25-, and 48-miles long – winding their way through area towns and making stops at various local ice cream parlors. Local restaurants and cafés dole out servings of their specialty foods for ticket holders to the event hosted by the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club. Lions Club Triathlon390 viewsUnder merciful overcast skies on July 15, the 37th annual Lions Club Triathlon found 115 participants including seven relay teams vying for first place bragging rights. Coming in 1st place in the men’s division was Brian Hughes with a time of 51:38 minutes. Woman’s Club Walks390 viewsThe Mattapoisett Woman’s Club has begun a “Woman’s Club Walks” every Monday at 8:00 am. Members wishing to walk several miles at a different location each week can look up the location of the walk at mattapoisettwomansclub.org. Members, guests, and people interested in joining the Woman’s Club can look up the location and meet each week. All participants will wear masks and keep appropriate social distancing. The walk on August 24 will take place on the Munn Property of the Mattapoisett Land Trust.

Salty Soirée390 viewsSince 2007, the Mattapoisett Land Trust has invited the community to a soirée at the site of Salty the Seahorse. The Halloween themed party on October 19 featured musical performances by Jeff and Lisa Dunn, storytelling by the campfire with Karen Chace, and make-your-own s’mores. The entrance to the park at the corner of Route 6 and North Street was lined with luminarias decorated by Center School students. First introduced by MLT member Don Cuddy. Photos by Marilou Newell
