Taste of the Town369 viewsPeople with a taste for fine food flocked to Shipyard Park in Mattapoisett on the evening of Tuesday, July 12 for the annual Taste of the Town. Local restaurants and cafés dole out servings of their specialty foods for ticket holders to the event hosted by the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club. Those who played helped raise an extra $523 the Lions Club will use to benefit the community. Holiday in the Park369 viewsT’was the fortnight before Christmas and all through the park, every creature was stirring including Santa, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph, and Frosty the Snowman! On Saturday, December 10, hundreds turned out for Mattapoisett’s holiday celebration at Shipyard Park where fun, free food, and frolicking characters made for a great night of revelry leading up to the tree lighting. This type of flower arranging began in 7th century Japan, and Flynn has studied the art form for over 15 years. Mattapoisett Sailing369 viewsThe Mattapoisett Sailing program is in its final week for the 2020 season. Begun in 2006 in memory of William Mee, the program is open to community children divided into two age groups that meet weekday mornings and afternoons at Mattapoisett Town Beach. From 9-11 am and 1-3 pm, students sail under the watchful eye of experienced instructors and three safety boats.
