Harbor Days 358 viewsHarbor Days came to Mattapoisett this past weekend, and many visitors were gracious enough to spin The Wanderer Wheel for a $1 donation to the Lions Club. Those who played helped raise an extra $523 the Lions Club will use to benefit the community. Lions Club Triathlon358 viewsUnder merciful overcast skies on July 15, the 37th annual Lions Club Triathlon found 115 participants including seven relay teams vying for first place bragging rights. Coming in 1st place in the men’s division was Brian Hughes with a time of 51:38 minutes. The storm brought strong wind and cold rain to the area, especially at the turn around Ned’s Point Lighthouse, dampening the day but not the sentiment behind the Women’s Fund of Southeastern Massachusetts’ largest annual fundraising event. 2011 Triathlon357 views240 athletes kicked off the Harbor Days week on July 10, 2011 with the Mattapoisett Lions’ Triathlon, which started from Mattapoisett Town Beach and included a .25-mile swim, a 10-mile bike ride and a 3-mile run. The Lions were collecting non-perishable food and unwrapped new toys to distribute to those in need during the holiday.
