Vernal Pools348 viewsGary Johnson of the Mattapoisett Land Trust led about a dozen on an excursion to the vernal pool at the Woodcock Preserve off Long Plain Road on Saturday, April 16, where they spotted the egg masses of the blue-spotted salamander, a species of ‘special concern,’ and the wood frog. 2011 Triathlon347 views240 athletes kicked off the Harbor Days week on July 10, 2011 with the Mattapoisett Lions’ Triathlon, which started from Mattapoisett Town Beach and included a .25-mile swim, a 10-mile bike ride and a 3-mile run. The men’s winner for the Triathlon was Keith Putnam or Marston Mills, MA with a time of 52:52, and the women’s winner was Katie McCully of Eastham, MA with a time of 58:51. Photo by Anne Kakley.
