On April 12, families gathered at Ned’s Point to celebrate Easter early with a traditional Easter egg hunt, sponsored by the Mattapoisett Lions Club. The Easter Bunny hopped over for a visit, giving children hugs and high-fives as parents scurried to take photos and comfort the smaller ones who were a little reluctant to approach. Kids Ocean Mile Fun Run476 viewsDrew Weaver, #102, aged 12 of Mattapoisett and Matt Castro, #101, age 12 of Westport, were guaranteed winners September 13 at the Kids Ocean Mile Fun Run put on by the Mattapoisett YMCA. The only ones who signed up to compete, Castro took first place and Weaver took second in a close race. Chili Cook-off476 viewsThe MattMen of Mattapoisett Congregational Church came together Sunday night, January 25th ,to see who amongst them cooks up the best man-made chili. Tasting was free to all who came. Those who wished to vote contributed $5 to The Baby Project of New Bedford. $518 was raised for The Baby Project. Out of 15 chili cooks who prepared 16 pots of chili, Rory McFee received the most votes for his “Smoky Chili.”. Bob Field’s “Oyster Chili” came in second place. Photo by Felix Perez
