On April 12, families gathered at Ned’s Point to celebrate Easter early with a traditional Easter egg hunt, sponsored by the Mattapoisett Lions Club. The Easter Bunny hopped over for a visit, giving children hugs and high-fives as parents scurried to take photos and comfort the smaller ones who were a little reluctant to approach. Memorial Day 2014409 viewsScores of Mattapoisett residents gathered in front of the Mattapoisett Free Library the drizzly afternoon of May 26 to pay homage to veteran Americans who lost their lives. Onlookers filled the lawn and spilled out into the street to watch the Memorial Day ceremony with special guest speaker Navy Reserve Commander Paul J. Mattapoisett Fire Station Open House409 viewsThe Mattapoisett Fire Station was packed with hundreds of children and their grown-ups for the October 9 Open House during Fire Prevention Week, enjoying the balloons, face painting, plastic firefighter hats, and free Chinese food. Brad Barrows Ride409 viewsThe annual Brad Barrows Ride took place on Saturday, September 19, with around 60 to 70 participants riding on roughly 40 motorcycles. The fundraiser proceeds go to fund local youth sports, a cause that was dear to the late Barrows’ heart. Barrows was the owner of the bad “Brad’s” in Mattapoisett until his death in 2007. Harbor Days 409 viewsHarbor Days came to Mattapoisett this past weekend, and many visitors were gracious enough to spin The Wanderer Wheel for a $1 donation to the Lions Club. Those who played helped raise an extra $523 the Lions Club will use to benefit the community.
