Tour de Crème382 viewsThe Mattapoisett Land Trust in tandem with the Mattapoisett Bike Path Committee held its first Tour de Crème on Sunday, May 22. The fundraiser brought groups on three different courses – 13-, 25-, and 48-miles long – winding their way through area towns and making stops at various local ice cream parlors. Taste of the Town382 viewsPeople with a taste for fine food flocked to Shipyard Park in Mattapoisett on the evening of Tuesday, July 12 for the annual Taste of the Town. Local restaurants and cafés dole out servings of their specialty foods for ticket holders to the event hosted by the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club. Harbor Days 382 viewsHarbor Days came to Mattapoisett this past weekend, and many visitors were gracious enough to spin The Wanderer Wheel for a $1 donation to the Lions Club. Those who played helped raise an extra $523 the Lions Club will use to benefit the community. Holiday in the Park382 viewsT’was the fortnight before Christmas and all through the park, every creature was stirring including Santa, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph, and Frosty the Snowman! On Saturday, December 10, hundreds turned out for Mattapoisett’s holiday celebration at Shipyard Park where fun, free food, and frolicking characters made for a great night of revelry leading up to the tree lighting. Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge382 viewsIt takes a certain type of person to jump into the cold ocean on New Year’s morning. Behold, the locals who fit that description as they enjoy a frosty January 1st at Mattapoisett Town Beach for the annual Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge! Hundreds lined the beach to take the plunge, with bundled spectators watching from the sidelines and cheering as the plungers charged ahead screaming and shrieking with exhilaration.
