Harbor Days 500 viewsHarbor Days came to Mattapoisett this past weekend, and many visitors were gracious enough to spin The Wanderer Wheel for a $1 donation to the Lions Club. Those who played helped raise an extra $523 the Lions Club will use to benefit the community. Mattapoisett Firefighters Association Chowder Competition500 viewsThe 2nd Annual Mattapoisett Firefighters Association Chowder Competition was well attended this Sunday, September 18, behind the Knights of Columbus on Route 6. Two categories – professional establishment and public safety – competed for best judged chowder and people’s choice. 15th annual Christmas Day Swim500 viewsWith light breezes and near freezing temperatures, Christmas Day 2016 found a hail and hearty group diving into Mattapoisett Harbor from town beach to benefit Helping Hands and Hooves. The 15th annual Christmas Day Swim took place at 11:00 am with many participants saying it was a family tradition they cherish. One hundred percent of the proceeds benefit the nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding lessons to adults and children with disabilities. Photos by Marilou Newell

Alpacapalooza! 500 viewsPine Meadows Farm in Mattapoisett is home to some 17 alpacas. Owners Heidi and Jeff Paine opened up the farm to the public over the weekend once the weather cleared. Saturday the alpacas were still drying off from the rain, but by Sunday their fleece was again fluffy and soft. Photos by Jean Perry

The Mattapoisett Library hosted a Blackout Poetry Lab on Saturday, April 21, and provided all the materials for any blackout poet to explore the art form.
