Tour de Crème437 viewsThe Mattapoisett Land Trust in tandem with the Mattapoisett Bike Path Committee held its first Tour de Crème on Sunday, May 22. The fundraiser brought groups on three different courses – 13-, 25-, and 48-miles long – winding their way through area towns and making stops at various local ice cream parlors. Flag Day437 viewsCenter School students gathered together with Old Hammondtown students by the Center School flagpole on the morning of Tuesday, June 14, to celebrate Flag Day. The OHS band played a number of tunes, while the Center School students sang patriotic songs and listened to Principal Rose Bowman read a series of poems and writings to remind the children of what the American flag stands for. Veterans Day Ceremony in Mattapoiset437 viewsCol. Joseph McGraw was the guest speaker during the Veterans Day Ceremony at Old Hammondtown School. McGraw has a long and impressive military career. He graduated in 1994 from U.S. Military Academy and achieved successive ranks to become a full colonel in 2015. Mattapoisett Woman’s Club Garden Tour437 viewsThe Mattapoisett Woman’s Club Garden Tour “Nature’s Treasures” held on June 30 was “Magnificent”, declared Ellen Flynn. Flynn said that the event brought in more than $6,000 - monies that are earmarked for their scholarship fund. She said visitors were awed by the gardens graciously opened for viewing from iconic harbor homes to those set in peaceful rural uplands along the Mattapoisett River Valley.
