Cops for Kids438 viewsOn April 28, Nicholas Claudio and his mother Alison Isherwood received a ‘big check’ for $5,000 from a partnership between Cops for Kids with Cancer and the Mattapoisett Police Officer’s Association. Claudio is a sophomore at ORRHS, an honor role student, and a cancer survivor. Flag Day438 viewsCenter School students gathered together with Old Hammondtown students by the Center School flagpole on the morning of Tuesday, June 14, to celebrate Flag Day. The OHS band played a number of tunes, while the Center School students sang patriotic songs and listened to Principal Rose Bowman read a series of poems and writings to remind the children of what the American flag stands for. Local restaurants and cafés dole out servings of their specialty foods for ticket holders to the event hosted by the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club. Veterans Day Ceremony in Mattapoiset438 viewsCol. Joseph McGraw was the guest speaker during the Veterans Day Ceremony at Old Hammondtown School. McGraw has a long and impressive military career. He graduated in 1994 from U.S. Military Academy and achieved successive ranks to become a full colonel in 2015. George Randall, member of the Florence Eastman Post of the American Legion, recited the preamble to the American Constitution and the Gettysburg Address before a standing-room only audience during the November 11 Veterans Day Ceremony in Mattapoiset
