48th Annual Mattapoisett Road Race 516 viewsThe 48th Annual Mattapoisett Road Race once again brought out young and old alike. Overcast skies were welcomed but the July 4th heat was tough for the runners and the cheering crowds who begged for shade. The field of runners was well over 1,000 and coming in first was Joe Farrand at 26:59. Shortly after, the first female to finish was Kim Bolick at 29:54. Lions Club Triathlon516 viewsUnder merciful overcast skies on July 15, the 37th annual Lions Club Triathlon found 115 participants including seven relay teams vying for first place bragging rights. Coming in 1st place in the men’s division was Brian Hughes with a time of 51:38 minutes. The basement of St. Anthonys church was decked out in snowflakes, wreaths, bells, bows, and a Santa sleigh. Santa listened patiently as children told him what they wanted for Christmas. Memorial Day515 viewsThe Florence Eastman Post 220 in Mattapoisett hosted the towns Memorial Day observance and parade on May 31, 2010. The ceremony began with a service at the Veterans monument in front of the library, and then a parade assembled and marched to the town wharf and to Cushing Cemetery.
