Mattapoisett Woman's Club 523 viewsOn September 28, the garden group of the Mattapoisett Woman's Club brought shovels, clippers, trowels, and rakes to the badly overgrown butterfly garden at Center School and cleared out the overgrowth and weeds. The garden will be dedicated to Suzanne Sylvester who along with two other teachers designed, planted, and used this garden to teach students about butterflies. Mattapoisett Woman’s Club Garden Tour523 viewsThe Mattapoisett Woman’s Club Garden Tour “Nature’s Treasures” held on June 30 was “Magnificent”, declared Ellen Flynn. Flynn said that the event brought in more than $6,000 - monies that are earmarked for their scholarship fund. She said visitors were awed by the gardens graciously opened for viewing from iconic harbor homes to those set in peaceful rural uplands along the Mattapoisett River Valley. Mattapoisett Museum523 viewsThe Mattapoisett Museum opened its Summer 2019 exhibit on June 27 titled “Inspiration: Time & Texture.” Local artists, including members of Center School’s third grade class, created works of art inspired by objects in the museum or of historical significance to the town.
