The storm brought strong wind and cold rain to the area, especially at the turn around Ned’s Point Lighthouse, dampening the day but not the sentiment behind the Women’s Fund of Southeastern Massachusetts’ largest annual fundraising event. River Road Flood453 viewsA rainstorm on March 29 and 30 wreaked havoc on Massachusetts, leaving the Commonwealth in a state of emergency. The real fall-out didnt arrive until March 31, when water tables reached record heights and dams in the region were tested to their maximum capacity. The Hathaway Pond Dam in Rochester needed reinforcement with sandbags and the area of Plumb Corner and Dexter Lane became a makeshift pond. Mom's Running453 viewsOver 600 runners came to Mattapoisett on May 9, 2010 to celebrate mom in the fourth annual Tiara Classic 5K road race. This years race had more runners than ever, despite the wind and cold temperatures. The road race benefits the New Bedford Womens Fund, an organization that empowers and provides upward mobility to women. Photos by Anne OBrien-Kakley.

2011 Triathlon453 views240 athletes kicked off the Harbor Days week on July 10, 2011 with the Mattapoisett Lions Triathlon, which started from Mattapoisett Town Beach and included a .25-mile swim, a 10-mile bike ride and a 3-mile run. The mens winner for the Triathlon was Keith Putnam or Marston Mills, MA with a time of 52:52, and the womens winner was Katie McCully of Eastham, MA with a time of 58:51. Photo by Anne Kakley.
