Behold, the locals who fit that description as they enjoy a frosty January 1st at Mattapoisett Town Beach for the annual Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge! Hundreds lined the beach to take the plunge, with bundled spectators watching from the sidelines and cheering as the plungers charged ahead screaming and shrieking with exhilaration. Dupuis, a former cobbler, and Padelford are master basket weavers who have been studying and teaching the craft for many years. Mattapoisett Museum526 viewsThe Mattapoisett Museum opened its Summer 2019 exhibit on June 27 titled “Inspiration: Time & Texture.” Local artists, including members of Center School’s third grade class, created works of art inspired by objects in the museum or of historical significance to the town. Memorial Day525 viewsThe Florence Eastman Post 220 in Mattapoisett hosted the towns Memorial Day observance and parade on May 31, 2010. The ceremony began with a service at the Veterans monument in front of the library, and then a parade assembled and marched to the town wharf and to Cushing Cemetery.
