And They Are Off!425 views240 athletes kicked off the Harbor Days week on July 10, 2011 with the Mattapoisett Lions’ Triathlon, which started from Mattapoisett Town Beach and included a .25-mile swim, a 10-mile bike ride and a 3-mile run. Heritage Days 2011425 viewsThe Fairhaven Village Militia made their annual encampment along the Mattapoisett River on August 6, 2011, as a part of Heritage Days. The Militia demonstrated 18th century living, made beef stew, completed drills, and talked about the dentistry methods of that time period. Sandy Relief425 viewsOn Friday, November 16, members of the Mattapoisett Lions Club packed a moving truck full of food and supplies and drove them down to Queens, NY to distribute them to victims of Hurricane Sandy. Nick's Pizza, Oxford Creamery, Mattapoisett Chowder House, On the Go and Panino's all donated soups and hot dogs to be served to those in need. The Rochester Lions Club also cooked chili to serve.
