Annual Turkey Dinner431 viewsLast Saturday over one hundred seniors enjoyed the annual turkey dinner with all the trimmings sponsored by the Mattapoisett Lions Club. Several of our volunteers also delivered meals to those seniors that could not attend. Music and laughter filled Raynard Hall at the Congregational Church. The event was chaired by Lions Joe and Janet Rego and the Boy Scouts did outstanding work serving the seniors and helping with clean up.

Freezin' for a Reason 2014431 viewsParticipants in the 2014 Polar Plunge on January 1 were encouraged to wear costumes for the event, which raised thousands of dollars for the BAM Foundation. BAM is an organization that offers financial assistance to families battling cancer to help offset the unexpected costs of cancer treatment. Hundreds of people turned out for the event, with over a hundred participants who plunged into 34 degree waters, just a few degrees warmer than the 28 degree air temperature that morning. Build-your-own Snowman431 viewsUnder the direction of Jeanne McCullough, children at the Mattapoisett Free Library on December 30 participated in a step-by-step build-your-own snowperson activity during the winter school break. Little fingers sticky with glue flattened out cotton balls and fastened them to prefabricated Styrofoam snowperson shapes, and then glued on the trimmings under the guidance of caregivers.
