Family Fun Festival 432 viewsThe Mattapoisett Lions Club held its first Family Fun Festival at Shipyard Park on Saturday, October 29, featuring some good old-fashioned fun and games. The 11 ladies and one young, but experienced novice Brenna Carrier, 12, created covered pillows during the exercise. With the placement of the Santa hat upon the head of our beloved Salty the Seahorse, the holiday season officially began. Mattapoisett Memorial Day432 viewsMattapoisett Board of Selectmen along with members of the American Legion Florence Eastman Post 280, Rep. William Straus, and special guest Col. Chris Kidd attended the Memorial Day observances at Center School on May 28. The Old Hammondtown School concert band under the direction of Cara Kinney played patriotic tunes to a full house, and afterwards the Memorial Day parade headed to the Civil War monument at the library. Lions Club Triathlon432 viewsUnder merciful overcast skies on July 15, the 37th annual Lions Club Triathlon found 115 participants including seven relay teams vying for first place bragging rights. Coming in 1st place in the men’s division was Brian Hughes with a time of 51:38 minutes.
