MHS Caroling415 viewsThe Mattapoisett Historical Society hosted a caroling event on Sunday, December 11, 2011. About 25 people gathered at the Museum and Carriage House at 5 Church Street and then meandered throughout the village to spread Holiday cheer. Extreme Engineering415 viewsOn Tuesday, July 31, dozens of curious students gathered at the Mattapoisett Library to join Dr. Martin Hudis in his Extreme Engineering program. The students participated in a variety of different exercises using remote controlled helicopters in a hands-on approach to learn valuable lessons in math and science. Theses scouts earned or participated in Merit Badges classes for Camping, Chess, Family Life, Canoeing, Rowing, Forestry, Search and Rescue, Leatherworking, Fishing, Rifle and Shotgun. Holiday Party at Shipyard Park415 viewsThe community turned out for a wonderful late afternoon of lights, music, food and fun at the annual Holiday Party at Shipyard Park in Mattapoisett hosted by the Lions Club. The Lions were collecting non-perishable food and unwrapped new toys to distribute to those in need during the holiday. Over 100 participants took the icy plunge into the frigid waters at Mattapoisett Town Beach on January 1 during the annual Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge on New Year’s Day.
