Mattapoisett Firefighters Association Chowder Competition422 viewsThe 2nd Annual Mattapoisett Firefighters Association Chowder Competition was well attended this Sunday, September 18, behind the Knights of Columbus on Route 6. Two categories – professional establishment and public safety – competed for best judged chowder and people’s choice. Memorial Day422 viewsThe rain cancelled the parade and forced the Memorial Day observance indoors on Monday, but many gathered to honor our fallen soldiers and their families inside Center School. Keynote speaker Commander Bryan D. Williams gave a heartfelt speech, while George Randall recited the Gettysburg Address to mark the 100th anniversary of when his father, Jeremiah, first read it on Memorial Day in 1917 at the age of 15. Alpacapalooza! 422 viewsPine Meadows Farm in Mattapoisett is home to some 17 alpacas. Owners Heidi and Jeff Paine opened up the farm to the public over the weekend once the weather cleared.
