Flag Day424 viewsCenter School students gathered together with Old Hammondtown students by the Center School flagpole on the morning of Tuesday, June 14, to celebrate Flag Day. The OHS band played a number of tunes, while the Center School students sang patriotic songs and listened to Principal Rose Bowman read a series of poems and writings to remind the children of what the American flag stands for. Mattapoisett Women's Club424 viewsThe Garden Group of the Mattapoisett Women's Club and friends toured the gardens of the Eleanor Cabot Estate on Wednesday, October 5. The estate, located in Canton, is a property of The Trustees of Reservations and open to the public. The ladies had a guided tour of the grounds and then enjoyed a bag lunch on the loggia.

Memorial Day424 viewsThe rain cancelled the parade and forced the Memorial Day observance indoors on Monday, but many gathered to honor our fallen soldiers and their families inside Center School. Keynote speaker Commander Bryan D. Williams gave a heartfelt speech, while George Randall recited the Gettysburg Address to mark the 100th anniversary of when his father, Jeremiah, first read it on Memorial Day in 1917 at the age of 15.
