Breakfast with Santa481 viewsIn 2014 the Mattapoisett Police Officer’s Association partnered up with the Mattapoisett Knight’s of Columbus in their already established “Breakfast with Santa.” This year we asked for each family to bring a new or slightly used gift, jacket or book to later be delivered to Gift’s To Give. The Assocoation had a great turn out and met their goal in filling a police cruiser.

Veterans Day Ceremony in Mattapoiset481 viewsOn November 11 following the Veterans Day Ceremony at Old Hammondtown School in Mattapoisett, members of Boy Scout Troop 53 performed a flag decommissioning ceremony at the Mattapoisett Land Trust’s Dunseith Gardens. Flags had been placed in decommissioning boxes built by Drew Robert for his Eagle project. The flags were then collected from the boxes located at the police department, town hall and public library and prepared for burning and burial.

Carolyn Titcomb481 viewsOn April 8, family and friends gathered at the residence of Carolyn Titcomb of Mattapoisett to celebrate her 100th birthday. Those in attendance traveled from throughout New England and from North Carolina to attend the event. Titcomb said she was overwhelmed by seeing so many people assembled just for her and said of her special birthday, “I don’t know how I got here!” Titcomb has two sons, William Titcomb of Marion, and Peter Titcomb of North Carolina, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Happy Days at Harbor Days 481 viewsIt all seems to come and go so quickly year after year, but while the Harbors Days are here the people of Mattapoisett and surrounding towns make time to enjoy the annual seaside event – the fish fry, lobster feast, pancake breakfast, and arts and crafts – that the Mattapoisett Lions Club works so hard all year round to keep going.
