Family Fun Festival 564 viewsFamilies came out in record numbers to enjoy the 4th Annual Fall Free Family Fun Festival sponsored by the Mattapoisett’s Lion Club on October 19 held at Shipyard Park. Bruce Rocha of the club estimated attendance at over 400. Kids and adults alike enjoyed free face painting, bowling with pumpkins, a corn hole toss, snacks, hayrides to Ned’s Point and, yes, free pumpkins to take home. 15th annual Christmas Day Swim563 viewsWith light breezes and near freezing temperatures, Christmas Day 2016 found a hail and hearty group diving into Mattapoisett Harbor from town beach to benefit Helping Hands and Hooves. The 15th annual Christmas Day Swim took place at 11:00 am with many participants saying it was a family tradition they cherish. One hundred percent of the proceeds benefit the nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding lessons to adults and children with disabilities. Photos by Marilou Newell

Behold, the locals who fit that description as they enjoy a frosty January 1st at Mattapoisett Town Beach for the annual Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge! Hundreds lined the beach to take the plunge, with bundled spectators watching from the sidelines and cheering as the plungers charged ahead screaming and shrieking with exhilaration.
