River Road Flood437 viewsA rainstorm on March 29 and 30 wreaked havoc on Massachusetts, leaving the Commonwealth in a state of emergency. The real fall-out didnt arrive until March 31, when water tables reached record heights and dams in the region were tested to their maximum capacity. The Hathaway Pond Dam in Rochester needed reinforcement with sandbags and the area of Plumb Corner and Dexter Lane became a makeshift pond. Heifer International works to end world hunger and poverty by donating livestock to families in need. Yard Sale Season437 viewsIt was Yard Sale & Family Fun day at the Knights of Columbus in Mattapoisett on April 21. The event concluded with a Ham &Bean Supper and proceeds went to the building and shrine fund. Hampered by the snow and ice they chased the fire through the walls and roof of the house and were eventually able to gain control. Little fingers sticky with glue flattened out cotton balls and fastened them to prefabricated Styrofoam snowperson shapes, and then glued on the trimmings under the guidance of caregivers.
