Family Fun Festival 585 viewsFamilies came out in record numbers to enjoy the 4th Annual Fall Free Family Fun Festival sponsored by the Mattapoisett’s Lion Club on October 19 held at Shipyard Park. Bruce Rocha of the club estimated attendance at over 400. Kids and adults alike enjoyed free face painting, bowling with pumpkins, a corn hole toss, snacks, hayrides to Ned’s Point and, yes, free pumpkins to take home. Pinewood Derby584 viewsMattapoisett Pack 53 held its Pinewood Derby on March 9 at the Mattapoisett Congregational Church. The Cub Scout division had 14 entries, and the Enthusiasts division had 11 entries. The five fastest Cub Scouts cars going to the regional competition in Rochester on March 23: 1st Gabe Michaud, 2nd Kyle Pina, 3rd Thomas Tseki, 4th Matthew Crain, and 5th Eamon Perez. Matthew Crain's blue and gold lego car won Best Scout Theme car, and the Most Unique Design went to Liam Garvin's camping car.

Brad Hathaway584 viewsIt took 32 years, but on October 3 Mattapoisett resident Brad Hathaway completed his “Walk around the World” along Aucoot Road, accompanied by well over 100 friends and supporters of his mission refocused some years ago from what had begun as a fitness prescription to a fundraising effort for the Mattapoisett Land Trust. Hathaway, 88, is a co-founder of the MLT and has dedicated his life toward preserving and protecting lands that his ancestors first came upon hundreds of years ago.

Mom's Running583 viewsOver 600 runners came to Mattapoisett on May 9, 2010 to celebrate mom in the fourth annual Tiara Classic 5K road race. This years race had more runners than ever, despite the wind and cold temperatures.
