Behold, the locals who fit that description as they enjoy a frosty January 1st at Mattapoisett Town Beach for the annual Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge! Hundreds lined the beach to take the plunge, with bundled spectators watching from the sidelines and cheering as the plungers charged ahead screaming and shrieking with exhilaration. Frozen Princesses470 viewsOn December 21, two princesses visited the Mattapoisett Public Library to read stories and sing songs from the Disney film Frozen. Princesses Elsa and Anna beguiled the children as well as their parents in an hour-long performance culminating in hugs and a photo session. Camper Fire469 viewsThe Mattapoisett Fire Department responded to a fire involving a camper at 110 Marion Road at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. A shed and a truck on the scene were also damaged in the fire. According to Chief Murray, the structures and vehicle were all clustered closely together in a remote area on the property and were fully involved on arrival. An electric heater in the camper is being looked into as the cause. The owner of the property had just purchased the camper three weeks ago.

Heritage Days 2011469 viewsChildren festooned their bicycles and enjoyed a ride around the village as a part of the 2011 Mattapoisett Heritage Days on August 6. Other Saturday activities included guided village tours, an evening concert and a treasure hunt. Mattapoisett bustled with activities on Saturday, but the bonfire was canceled due to wind, and many Heritage Days activities were canceled on Sunday due to heavy rain. Photos by Felix Perez.
