Mattapoisett Museum504 viewsThe Mattapoisett Museum opened its Summer 2019 exhibit on June 27 titled “Inspiration: Time & Texture.” Local artists, including members of Center School’s third grade class, created works of art inspired by objects in the museum or of historical significance to the town. Great Community Picnic504 viewsThe Great Community Picnic hosted by the Mattapoisett Land Trust and Historical Museum featured great food, music, and lots of creative expression. One table was tricked out in a Jaws theme while another was filled with ladies wearing hats called “fascinators”. The fourth annual fundraiser was a sold out event. Poker Run503 viewsMotorcyclists gathered Sunday morning, September 20, in the parking lot of ORR to ride in the third annual Poker Run for Alex Pateakos. Alex is a five-year-old Marion boy who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Money raised by the poker run will benefit Alex, and Families of SMA, a group that helps families like the Pateakos live their lives as close to normal as possible. Santa Arrives503 viewsMattapoisett held its annual holiday celebration and tree lighting on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Shipyard Park. The rain couldn't dampen holiday spirits as visitors enjoyed delicious food and listened to Christmas music performed by the Showstoppers. Children made their own ornaments and hung them on the Christmas tree. They also danced with Rudolph and Frosty and shared their Christmas wishes with Santa Claus. Photo by Felix Perez.

Christmas Holiday Shop503 viewsSt. Anthonys and St. Ritas parishioners combined efforts to give the community a Christmas Holiday Shop and Celebration on Saturday, December 5, 2009. The basement of St. Anthonys church was decked out in snowflakes, wreaths, bells, bows, and a Santa sleigh. Santa listened patiently as children told him what they wanted for Christmas. River Road Flood503 viewsA rainstorm on March 29 and 30 wreaked havoc on Massachusetts, leaving the Commonwealth in a state of emergency. The real fall-out didnt arrive until March 31, when water tables reached record heights and dams in the region were tested to their maximum capacity. The Hathaway Pond Dam in Rochester needed reinforcement with sandbags and the area of Plumb Corner and Dexter Lane became a makeshift pond. Harbor Days Craze503 viewsThe town gazebo was the scene of another sultry Harbor Days this past weekend. Rows of vendors peddled their fun wares while visitors of all ages enjoyed music, conversation and the best strawberry shortcake in the world. The festivities started in earnest on Friday night with chowder and seafood rolls, and continued until Sunday. Only 51 more weeks until Harbor Days 2011! Photos by Felix Perez.

Judges Kim Corazzini, Kate Souza and Katie Bobola had difficulty choosing winners for the contest, because all of the costumes were so great this year!
