Family Fun Festival 607 viewsFamilies came out in record numbers to enjoy the 4th Annual Fall Free Family Fun Festival sponsored by the Mattapoisett’s Lion Club on October 19 held at Shipyard Park. Bruce Rocha of the club estimated attendance at over 400. Kids and adults alike enjoyed free face painting, bowling with pumpkins, a corn hole toss, snacks, hayrides to Ned’s Point and, yes, free pumpkins to take home. The rain couldn't dampen holiday spirits as visitors enjoyed delicious food and listened to Christmas music performed by the Showstoppers. Harbor Days Craze606 viewsThe town gazebo was the scene of another sultry Harbor Days this past weekend. Rows of vendors peddled their fun wares while visitors of all ages enjoyed music, conversation and the best strawberry shortcake in the world. Ashley Mural606 viewsThe mural by Clifford Ashley, donated to the Mattapoisett Historical Society by Polly Duff Phipps, was unveiled in a ceremony at the Mattapoisett Museum and Carriage House on July 31, 2011 after extensive renovation. The mural, entitled "A Chart of the Whale Coast of New England, c. 1810" will now be on display in the Museum at 5 Church Street, Mattapoisett. Mattapoisett Firefighters Association Chowder Competition606 viewsThe 2nd Annual Mattapoisett Firefighters Association Chowder Competition was well attended this Sunday, September 18, behind the Knights of Columbus on Route 6. Two categories – professional establishment and public safety – competed for best judged chowder and people’s choice.
