Poker Run613 viewsMotorcyclists gathered Sunday morning, September 20, in the parking lot of ORR to ride in the third annual Poker Run for Alex Pateakos. Alex is a five-year-old Marion boy who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Money raised by the poker run will benefit Alex, and Families of SMA, a group that helps families like the Pateakos’ live their lives as close to normal as possible. Chest Returns613 viewsBeth Mills stands in front of the pine and mahogany chest of drawers made by her grandfather, Charles Johnson, who was an undertaker and cabinet-maker in Mattapoisett at the turn of the 20th century. The chest of drawers remained with her until she passed away in 2008 at the age of 99. Her friends John and Caroline Belloti contacted the Mattapoisett Historical Society after her passing to fulfill her wish that the chest remain with the Mattapoisett Museum, just around the corner from where it was made.

Santa Arrives613 viewsMattapoisett held its annual holiday celebration and tree lighting on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Shipyard Park. The rain couldn't dampen holiday spirits as visitors enjoyed delicious food and listened to Christmas music performed by the Showstoppers. Heritage Days 2011613 viewsChildren festooned their bicycles and enjoyed a ride around the village as a part of the 2011 Mattapoisett Heritage Days on August 6. Other Saturday activities included guided village tours, an evening concert and a treasure hunt. Mattapoisett bustled with activities on Saturday, but the bonfire was canceled due to wind, and many Heritage Days activities were canceled on Sunday due to heavy rain. Photos by Felix Perez.
