Emily is a member of Ship 40 Nobska from the Cape Cod & Islands Council. Currently she is the Northeast Region Area 1 Boatswain and she served in a variety of Ship and Council leadership positions. Family Fun Festival 532 viewsFamilies came out in record numbers to enjoy the 4th Annual Fall Free Family Fun Festival sponsored by the Mattapoisett’s Lion Club on October 19 held at Shipyard Park. Bruce Rocha of the club estimated attendance at over 400. Kids and adults alike enjoyed free face painting, bowling with pumpkins, a corn hole toss, snacks, hayrides to Ned’s Point and, yes, free pumpkins to take home. She, along with Kevin Tavares have done an amazing job supporting the families of this town during this time of remote learning due to the Covid-19 crisis. This picture sums up Rose. Santa Arrives531 viewsMattapoisett held its annual holiday celebration and tree lighting on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Shipyard Park. The rain couldn't dampen holiday spirits as visitors enjoyed delicious food and listened to Christmas music performed by the Showstoppers. Stan Ellis Retires531 viewsOld Hammondtown School teacher Stan Ellis will be retiring this year after 29 years of teaching in Mattapoisett. Mr. Ellis will be recognized with a Massachusetts Jazz Educators Lifetime Achievement Award at the Massachusetts Music Educators All-State Conference on March 18, and Mr. Ellis will soon be publishing a book entitled Whiskers on My Cat. Bi Todd Ramp Sign Renewed531 viewsAfter David "Bi" Todd passed away in 2009, Mattapoisett resident Matthew Arguin, along with a friend, came up with a plan to have the state boat ramp dedicated to him after all his years of hauling boats on it. During Irene, the sign was blown down, but someone found it and returned it to the Harbormaster. With the help of local Ed Scholter and Horace Field, the sign was replaced and is better than ever. New Year Plunge531 viewsOn January 1, 2013, Mattapoisett Town Beach played host to a New Year’s polar plunge fundraiser. The event, which attracted over 400 people, raised money to benefit BAM Foundation, Inc., a New Bedford non-profit which donates money to South Coast families dealing with members who have cancer.
