Tradition at the Wayside550 viewsFor 30 years, Edward Days, with the help of his son Anthony, decorated the Wayside Shrine at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Mattapoisett. The shrine was built by Ray Fleurent who passed away this year. When Edward Days passed away 20 years ago, family continued the tradition for seven years. This past Sunday, in memory of his father and all Knights of Columbus, and with permission, Anthony gathered siblings and grandchildren to continue the tradition once again. Great Community Picnic550 viewsThe Great Community Picnic hosted by the Mattapoisett Land Trust and Historical Museum featured great food, music, and lots of creative expression. One table was tricked out in a Jaws theme while another was filled with ladies wearing hats called “fascinators”. The fourth annual fundraiser was a sold out event. Pinewood Derby549 viewsMattapoisett Pack 53 held its Pinewood Derby on March 9 at the Mattapoisett Congregational Church. The Cub Scout division had 14 entries, and the Enthusiasts division had 11 entries. The five fastest Cub Scouts cars going to the regional competition in Rochester on March 23: 1st Gabe Michaud, 2nd Kyle Pina, 3rd Thomas Tseki, 4th Matthew Crain, and 5th Eamon Perez. Matthew Crain's blue and gold lego car won Best Scout Theme car, and the Most Unique Design went to Liam Garvin's camping car.
