Helping Hands and Hooves is a non-profit (based in Mattapoisett) that is dedicated to providing therapeutic horseback riding lessons for adults with disabilities. Mattapoisett YMCA536 viewsOn Sunday, October 20, the Mattapoisett YMCA hosted its first annual Harbor Brew Fest. Participants enjoyed this sunny day of local brew tastings, live music by Sean Carney, and fresh scallops, while overlooking beautiful Mattapoisett Harbor. A bonfire on the beach accompanied by a smores bar added to the fun. All proceeds from the event will go towards the Mattapoisett YMCA’s Annual Campaign that helps deserving children attend summer camp, preschool and afterschool care.

Mattapoisett Halloween Parade 2008535 viewsThe Mattapoisett Police Department once again sponsored a parade of little ghouls and goblins through the streets of Mattapoisett Village on October 31. Salute to Scouts535 viewsMembers of Mattapoisett Boy Scout Troop 53 were recently commended by the Mattapoisett Board of Selectmen for their ongoing collection efforts in support of Cape Cod Cares for the Troops. The troop was given a citation from the U.S. Air Force along with an American flag that was flown over Kuwait. Rehearsals for the 2009 Spring concert, “Days of Blue and Gray,” are now taking place and new members may join until January 26 and no auditions are required. "M/V Mattapoisett" was the call sign of Karl Collyer who passed away in February 2010 after working 40 years at the boatyard.
