Santa Arrives505 viewsMattapoisett held its annual holiday celebration and tree lighting on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Shipyard Park. The rain couldn't dampen holiday spirits as visitors enjoyed delicious food and listened to Christmas music performed by the Showstoppers. Great Community Picnic505 viewsThe Great Community Picnic hosted by the Mattapoisett Land Trust and Historical Museum featured great food, music, and lots of creative expression. One table was tricked out in a Jaws theme while another was filled with ladies wearing hats called “fascinators”. The fourth annual fundraiser was a sold out event. Veterans Day Ceremony in Mattapoiset504 viewsOn November 11 following the Veterans Day Ceremony at Old Hammondtown School in Mattapoisett, members of Boy Scout Troop 53 performed a flag decommissioning ceremony at the Mattapoisett Land Trust’s Dunseith Gardens. Flags had been placed in decommissioning boxes built by Drew Robert for his Eagle project. The flags were then collected from the boxes located at the police department, town hall and public library and prepared for burning and burial.
