Race-goers got a special treat when NBC's The Voice contender, and Mattapoisett resident, Devon Barley started the event with the National Anthem. Paul Kelley523 viewsHearts were heavy in Mattapoisett on August 18, 2011, as the town prepared to remember the life of a long-time resident and firefighter. Paul Kelley, 76, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2011, after a battle with cancer. Helping Hands and Hooves is a non-profit (based in Mattapoisett) that is dedicated to providing therapeutic horseback riding lessons for adults with disabilities. Great Community Picnic523 viewsThe Great Community Picnic hosted by the Mattapoisett Land Trust and Historical Museum featured great food, music, and lots of creative expression. One table was tricked out in a Jaws theme while another was filled with ladies wearing hats called “fascinators”. The fourth annual fundraiser was a sold out event.
