The students and staff of the Transition Program at ORR High School established the garden to provide an opportunity for students with unique abilities to gain horticultural experience, including the sale of the produce at local farmers’ markets, while fostering community service opportunities. S.C.O.P.E. – Student Centered Opportunities for Personal Enrichment – is a week-long program that offers activities that challenge students while having fun! In addition to the cardboard boat race at the Mattapoisett YMCA, the week was filled with trips, tours, and activities, such as team building and the ropes course at the Dartmouth YMCA, a visit to Historic Faneuil Hall. “The Machine” Jesse Green387 viewsFamous chainsaw artist and star of the National Geographic Channel TV show American Chainsaw, “The Machine” Jesse Green presented the RMS students with a one-of-a-kind chainsaw sculpture of Bandit, the RMS mascot, on December 15. The Sippican Chorus, under the direction of Patricia Richard, was followed by the Sippican Band under the direction of instrumental music teacher Hannah Moore, also serving as emcee. Winterfest387 viewsORRJHS hosted a fun Friday night for Grades 6-8 on January 19, providing a ‘Winterfest’ to break up the chilly season with some heated up fun, such as dancing to a DJ, disco lights, and an inflatables room complete with jousting, bouncing, and inflatable sumo wrestling.
