ORR Pep Rally420 viewsPrincipal Michael Devoll gave Old Rochester Regional High School students a “shot in the arm” of school spirit on Friday January 31 – rather overdue for a school with a varsity basketball team currently in first place, a number of losing streaks in sports that have finally come to an end, and an undefeated debate team, among other reasons for students to be proud. Oxfam Fundraising Banquet420 viewsAt the Old Rochester Regional Junior High School on February 13, guests of the Oxfam fundraising banquet got a taste of world hunger when they symbolically experienced the inequitable distribution of wealth and resources during a dinner of either just rice, rice or beans, or a full meal of rice, beans, and baked fish, determined at random by which ticket guests received at the door. FORM Concert 420 viewsThe tri-town FORM concert brought together students whose combined musicality entertained a full house. The performers sang song style selections from spiritual to jazz and the crowd pleaser “Don’t Worry Be Happy” by Rochester Memorial School. Combining the voices of nearly 300 students the finale was a soulful treatment of “Wade In The Water”. Funds raised through FORM concerts support scholarships awarded each year to graduating seniors who have completed at least two full years in a school music program.

Much Ado About Nothing 420 viewsWhen ORR High School students Ian Hibbert and Jeremy Bare walked out onto the stage in longhaired wigs and skirts, the crowd burst into laughter. Twenty-one students from English teacher Kathleen Brunelle’s Theater class performed Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing on May 22. The performance had a different spin on the original play, the setting being post-World War II, with accompanying music by the Andrews Sisters that, along with period clothing and costumes, brought the play to life.
