Manguito386 viewsCenter School students were introduced to Latin rhythms and percussion instruments by the Boston-based educational Latin American music group Manguito during an afternoon presentation on January 24. Manguito members really captured the attention of the kids, resulting in plenty of learning while the group’s sizzling salsa and merengue music resulted in an eruption of dancing and spontaneous conga lines. The show stars Storm Lanzoni as the charming and rather acrobatic Aladdin, Emma Zhou as Princess Jasmine, plus, not one, but three genies – Cattarinha Nunes as the Genie of the Ring, Jackson Veugen as the Genie of the Jewels, and Nicole Londergan as the Genie of the Lamp. Students in Nicole Radke’s fourth-grade classroom organized and ran the school’s most successful charity fundraiser in just two days. Upon learning about the tragedy of the Boston Marathon Bombings and reflecting upon the courage and bravery of the first responders, students asked their teacher, “Can we do something to help the people who are hurt?”
