Tour de Crème444 viewsThis year’s 4th annual Tour de Crème raised $12,000 for outdoor recreation in Mattapoisett! There were 350 riders consuming over 1,200 scoops of ice cream all for a good cause. Bikes, Bikes, Bikes!442 viewsThe Third Annual Pan Mass Challenge Kids Tri-Town Ride attracted several hundred young bicyclist to the ORR campus on Saturday morning, May 16, for a bike rally to help defeat cancer. Proceeds from the event will go to several charities in the state such as the Jimmy Fund and Dana- Farber Cancer Institute to assist in cancer research. National Night Out442 viewsThe Tri-Town’s inaugural edition of National Night Out drew a big and enthusiastic crowd on Tuesday. Residents watched the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department’s Ken Ballinger demonstrate K-9 tactics, got a feel for SWAT, EMS, and Fire vehicles; and enjoyed pizza and ice cream. Disaster Drill441 viewsFairhaven Fire Department hosted a full-scale exercise to improve emergency response in the region. Mattapoisett, Rochester, Dartmouth, Freetown, Acushnet, and New Bedford all responded to a disaster that simulated an accident between a school bus and an oil truck at Livesey Park in Fairhaven. Zumbathon441 viewsThe ORR high school gymnasium was alive with music and movement on Sunday, April 11, 2010, when dancers took to the floor for a good cause. For a $30 contribution, participants could Zumba for three hours, and the proceeds of the Zumbathon went to Compassionate Care for ALS in Falmouth, a non-profit organization that provides equipment and support to families affected by ALS. The Zumbathon was in honor of Jeffrey Lawrence, a 47-year-old man living with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
