Buzzards Bay Coalition Bike Ride583 viewsOn Sunday, October 14, 147 riders pedaled across southeastern Massachusetts to participate in the 6th Annual Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride in order to raise money for the Buzzards Bay Coalition. There were two route options, one 75-mile and one 35-mile course that led riders all throughout the region, including the Tri-Town. The ride raised $68,000 for the organization's initiatives. ORCTV Online582 viewsThe new studio for Old Rochester Community Television (ORCTV) is now up and fully functional at their Marion-based facility inside the Captain Hadley House on the corner of Route 6 and Front Street. The system provides a public access channel for the three towns, an education channel for the three towns, and a dedicated government channel for each on both the Comcast and Verizon cable systems. Relay for Life582 viewsThe American Cancer Society held their Annual Relay for Life of the Tri-Towns from 6:00p.m. on Friday, June 12 until noon on Saturday June 13 at Old Rochester Regional High School's track. Between 250 and 300 people participated in the eighteen hour walk raising nearly $50,000 to help fight and prevent cancer. Photo by Robert Chiarito.

Habitat for Humanity581 viewsBuzzards Bay Area Habitat for Humanity recently held a Cape Cod Canal boat cruise fundraiser for their next build. The event was very well attended with lots of great food from local restaurants. The premier sponsor of the event was Pilgrim Bank. Habitat was able to raise $5,000 for their upcoming build.

High Winds and Waves581 viewsOn February 7, rain and high winds hit Southeastern Massachusetts, resulting in thousands of electrical outages. The hardest hit in the Tri-Town area was Rochester with more than 500 Eversource customers reporting wires down and service interruptions from mid-afternoon into the night. Gusts of over 70 miles per hour were reported by the National Weather Service. Rochester’s Highway Department was on the job for approximately 24 hours removing trees. Photo by Bertram Zarins
