Welcome to the Camp507 viewsCarl Robideau, Director of Camp Massasoit at the Mattapoisett branch of the YMCA Southcoast, recently led a tour of the summer camp facility on April 21 to provide prospective parents with an overview of what the program has to offer. Camp Massasoit offers programs for children of all ages starting with their Scamper Camp program aimed at preschool aged children, 4 to 5 years of age, up to their Counselor-In-Training program for teenagers, 15 to 16 years of age. Mom's Marathon '07507 viewsAn estimated 400 runners and walkers came out to the Oxford Creamery in Mattapoisett on Sunday, May 13 to participate in the first annual Tiara Classic Mother’s Day 5K Road Race. The race was held to benefit the Women’s Fund of Southeastern Massachusetts. Many of the runners donned tiaras and capes, making this event one of the more colorful local road races. Bikes, Bikes, Bikes!505 viewsThe Third Annual Pan Mass Challenge Kids Tri-Town Ride attracted several hundred young bicyclist to the ORR campus on Saturday morning, May 16, for a bike rally to help defeat cancer. Proceeds from the event will go to several charities in the state such as the Jimmy Fund and Dana- Farber Cancer Institute to assist in cancer research. Dragon Crossing505 viewsMattapoisett Animal Officer Kathy Massey was called to the area of Route 6 at the Mattapoisett/Marion line late Friday morning for what turned out to be a Tegu Dragon crossing the road. The 4-foot Tegu was transported to Mattapoisett Animal Hospital for treatment and was then brought to an undisclosed location for nourishment. Young and old alike danced to the music of DJ Don Hunt from City Lights Disc Jockey Services and then were thrilled to dance alongside special guest 'stars' The Cat in the Hat and Shrek!
