Local Idols561 viewsMembers of the Showstoppers Musical Entertainment based in Mattapoisett recently took top honors at two regional Performing Arts Competitions. Nine girls competed with six entries at the Dynamite National Talent Competition at Quinsigamond College in Worcester on April 14 and ten girls competed with eight entries in the Headliners Performing Arts Competition held at East Providence High School in East Providence, RI. The group took home several awards from both events.

This year 21 teams of walkers raised more than $60,000 before the first step had been taken on Friday night — more than tripling the total amount of money raised in the first year of the walk-a-thon in 2005.
