Oil Slick200 viewsMultiple government agencies, including Mattapoisett Fire Rescue and Harbormaster and Marion Harbormaster responded Sunday to the Cleveland Ledge area of Buzzards Bay after a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter spotted an oil slick that U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Ryan Noel said the oil slick in Buzzards Bay was approximately a mile long and 150 to 300 feet wide, according to a Facebook post made by the Marion Fire/Emergency Medical Services Department. Highway Fire197 viewsOn December 29, Mattapoisett and Marion Fire departments prevented multiple fires set along Route 195 eastbound from reaching the woods. Mattapoisett Fire Department reported on its Facebook page, responding with Chief 1, Engine 1, Engine 2 and Engine 4 to a reported “small fire” on Route 195 eastbound between the Mattapoisett and Marion exits.
