The ribbon was cut by Owen Excellent, and guest speaker Leon Correy spoke to overcoming struggles and the need for equity for all people. From Birches to Poplars to Oaks we learned about branching patterns, bark design, and other techniques to identify our local trees without their leaves. The event, sponsored by the Rochester Fire Department, saw contestants build boats and race south along the Mattapoisett River.
