Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race217 viewsThe Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race was held on May 31 and this year was back to the complete course after holding a half-length race in 2020. Marion Natural History Museum217 viewsLast Wednesday, the museum's adult community program braved the cold to learn a little about how to identify trees in winter with DCR Forester James Rassman. From Birches to Poplars to Oaks we learned about branching patterns, bark design, and other techniques to identify our local trees without their leaves. Jim then stuck around to talk our afterschool group about the importance of trees and what they do for us and the earth. Many thanks to Jim for sharing his expertise with us. Little Free Diverse Library216 viewsIt's been a year since Tri-Town Against Racism’s first Little Free Diverse Library was installed at Ned's Point in Mattapoisett, and on May 12 TTAR members along with supporters gathered again to celebrate, this time the reopening of the little library that in November 2021 had been vandalized, destroying both the structure and the books it held. That senseless act only fostered a stronger sense of purpose and community unity. Photos by Marilou Newell
