Tri-Town firefighters169 viewsThe holidays were challenging for Tri-Town firefighters. Marion and Rochester fire departments were among towns assisting Wareham after a mulch pile in a remote location off County Road caught fire on Christmas Eve. Firefighters worked in cold temperatures for eight hours, dispensing approximately 200,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire. Howard Tinkham167 viewsHoward Tinkham’s 100th birthday was celebrated on Sunday with a parade that went from the Florence Eastman Post 280 American Legion in Mattapoisett out to Ned’s Point Lighthouse and back, followed by a party at the hall featuring “God Bless America” and “Happy Birthday” sung by the Showstoppers and refreshments for the many citizens who attended to express their appreciation for all that Tinkham has meant to the town. Tri-Town Against Racism167 viewsThe Town of Rochester received a Little Diverse Free Library on June 17 when members of Tri-Town Against Racism performed a ribbon-cutting and associated Juneteenth celebration at Plumb Library. The ribbon was cut by Owen Excellent, and guest speaker Leon Correy spoke to overcoming struggles and the need for equity for all people.
