Oil Slick173 viewsMultiple government agencies, including Mattapoisett Fire Rescue and Harbormaster and Marion Harbormaster responded Sunday to the Cleveland Ledge area of Buzzards Bay after a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter spotted an oil slick that U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Ryan Noel said the oil slick in Buzzards Bay was approximately a mile long and 150 to 300 feet wide, according to a Facebook post made by the Marion Fire/Emergency Medical Services Department. Little Free Diverse Library171 viewsIt's been a year since Tri-Town Against Racism’s first Little Free Diverse Library was installed at Ned's Point in Mattapoisett, and on May 12 TTAR members along with supporters gathered again to celebrate, this time the reopening of the little library that in November 2021 had been vandalized, destroying both the structure and the books it held. Tri-Town firefighters170 viewsThe holidays were challenging for Tri-Town firefighters. Marion and Rochester fire departments were among towns assisting Wareham after a mulch pile in a remote location off County Road caught fire on Christmas Eve. Firefighters worked in cold temperatures for eight hours, dispensing approximately 200,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.
