Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race152 viewsThe Rochester Memorial Day Boar Race took place this past Monday. The event, sponsored by the Rochester Fire Department, saw contestants build boats and race south along the Mattapoisett River. Kai Ouellette from Center School and Harrison White from Rochester Memorial. Oil Slick151 viewsMultiple government agencies, including Mattapoisett Fire Rescue and Harbormaster and Marion Harbormaster responded Sunday to the Cleveland Ledge area of Buzzards Bay after a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter spotted an oil slick that U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Ryan Noel said the oil slick in Buzzards Bay was approximately a mile long and 150 to 300 feet wide, according to a Facebook post made by the Marion Fire/Emergency Medical Services Department.
